Artwork guidelines

Acceptable File Formats

Print-ready pdf (non-editable), Pdf files are preferred as they produce better results when printed in large format.
When sending files, please include all support artwork such as fonts and linked images. Do not embed images in Illustrator files, please supply them as separate files.

Font Specifications

Fonts must be converted to outlines/curves. Please note that this will render the type non-editable. If fonts are not converted to outlines, please provide Macintosh or TrueType fonts. If changes need to be made to the file, please provide the fonts and a version of the file with editable type. Do not artificially embellish fonts, such as emboldening, italicising and outlining, using the ‘Style’ menu in Quark, In Design, Illustrator or Photoshop as they may not print correctly. Fonts created in vector-based software, such as Illustrator, achieve the most satisfactory results.

Colour Specifications

All files are printed in CMYK format and must be supplied as such. Please provide a PDF layout or hard copy proof of the files being printed as a visual reference for checkinglayout and content of artwork. If you would like specific Pantone colours to be matched, please specify on your purchase order or hard copy proof. Please specify Pantone Coated colour references within the artwork file. If you wish to check the colour and content of your job before production, a hard copy proof is available for an additional fee. Please allow an additional 1-2 days production time for a hard copy proof, depending on receipt of printable artwork.

If colour matching is required for Photoshop files, please provide a layered file.
Studio time may be charged to correct flattened Photoshop files.

Please note: Pantone ‘Special’ colours, such as silver and gold cannot be reproduced on digital printers.

Use rich black
C0 M0 Y0 K100 for dye sub materials and C20 M20 Y20 K100 for Aqueous, Latex and UV prints.

All raster files (either print files or linked files) must be no less than 300 dpi at 25% size layout.

Do not use images taken from web pages, Powerpoint, Excel, Word or Clipart as resolution is likely to be low.

Never enlarge image resolution beyond the original size. If the image appears pixelated on the screen, this is how it will print.

Files are accepted by email (up to 8mb), Dropbox and “We Transfer”

Pop-up, Twist, ISO Wave Graphics Must be built as one file (see our product template).

Graphic Templates

There are graphic templates available for all our products, including guidelines for correct proportions, visible graphics area and bleed for artwork according to specifications. Templates can be used to ensure artwork is set up correctly for print.

Templates for products are available upon request.

Bleed Specification

All graphics produced require specific bleeds, depending on the type of product and the printing process.

As a general rule if artwork is supplied at 25% of the actual size then please allow 3mm bleed with trim marks.

All our graphic templates will specify this on them.
